Step into my studio
Join me behind the scenes: process, practice, and essays on artistry.
Dune was the first track I wrote and recorded upon moving from New York City to Charleston, South Carolina. Inspired by the surrounding landscape—warm briny water, sand dunes, crisp palms, and soft Spanish moss—the track became the sum of my mood at the time. Recorded in my new studio, it features harmonies that unexpectedly ebb and flow out of major and minor cadences, the billowing melodic lines anchored by a repetitive grounding loop that tethers the piece despite its fluctuating and often unusual time signatures.
The first ten measures of this piece consist of the rhythmic refrain that is repeated throughout the whole. Grab a friend, a looper, or perform alongside the included mp3 loop! The main piano part—everything after the first ten measures—also makes a great standalone piece. Dune is part of “Piano Layers Vol. II” by 7k.
